It all started with Mette's first visits to Nepal in fall 2007 and spring 2008.
Amazed by the the beauty of nature, the splendor of the mountains, the kindness and hospitality of the people,
and the particular spiritual and serene atmosphere,
Mette could not help being deeply touched by the extremely difficult living conditions there.
Her heart went out particularly to the children who have very little to eat, and hardly any chance
of ever attending school. Most of the time they are used as cheap labor from a very young age.
Among the wonderful people Mette met in her travels, she developed a specially warm and
unique friendship with her mountain guide, Min, and his family.
Min (40) and his brother Sandip (31) come from the Himalayan region (western Nepal).
and have been working as mountain guides for many years.
Min and Sandip regularly visit and help different orphanages. Having seen so many
miserable, neglected and lonely children, their dream has always been to create their own orphanage.
In their home town, Gorkha, they have already helped build 3 classrooms and toilettes for the
primary and secondary school.
All of that, including the sponsoring of 22 students, is funded by an Australian group of friends.
Min's dream and Mette's enthusiasm and energy coincided and they decided
to launch the project of the
construction and management of an orphanage in Pokhara (Nepal) for 10 children. They decided to call it : "Happy Children's Home".
A non-profit association was created on 30 January 2009 (No W01000078)
under the French law of 1st June 1901, and is currently made up of 6
members. New members are welcome to join in, to help create and
organize new and exciting fund raising events..
A similar association has now been set up in Pokhara, Nepal.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody who has been helping us so
far with generous donations and assistance.
None of this would have been possible without YOU !!!
